Poems
Hello everyone!!! Sorry for not being able to write yesterday. I spent almost whole day in Croatian capital of Zagreb. And at 7.00 p.m. I had to take my 96 years old grandfather to church. He usually goes to church on Saturday when there is less people attending the mass. When I finally arrived home I was to tired to write.
New month has started. Here in Croatia we call it Listopad or „a month of falling leaves“. It is a nice month, I think. Leaves are changing their colour. Everything is beautiful.
In my post of September 20 I wrote about my favourite writers. Today let me write few lines about poetry. I must admit that I do not read poems that often. Still, poems which will always stay in my heart are those by great Chilean poet Pablo Neruda (1904-1973). Here is one of his poems I especially like.
I Crave Your Mouth, Your Voice, Your Hair
DON'T GO FAR OFF, NOT EVEN FOR A DAY
Don't go far off, not even for a day, because --
because -- I don't know how to say it: a day is long
and I will be waiting for you, as in an empty station
when the trains are parked off somewhere else, asleep.
Don't leave me, even for an hour, because
then the little drops of anguish will all run together,
the smoke that roams looking for a home will drift
into me, choking my lost heart.
Oh, may your silhouette never dissolve on the beach;
may your eyelids never flutter into the empty distance.
Don't leave me for a second, my dearest,
because in that moment you'll have gone so far
I'll wander mazily over all the earth, asking,
Will you come back? Will you leave me here, dying?
For some time in the past I tried to write some poems myself. But everything finished on trying...Maybe, it's a pity...Who knows...
I also like Haiku poetry...these little gems of poetry from Japan. Here is one interesting example of Haiku by the 17th century poet Matsuo Basho.
an old pond -
the sound of a frog jumping
into water
I have to stop here. See you tomorrow...Well, I hope. I'll try to write as often as possible.
Have a beautiful week. Bye!!
